Overview

The Bishop’s University Continuing Education office is looking for motivated and disciplined individuals to oversee the Explore Youth (13-15) – ESL Immersion Program during the summer session of the 2024 academic year. Under the authority and supervisory leadership of the Camp Coordinator and the Director of the EXPLORE 13-15 Program and in collaboration with other language monitors, the successful candidates will work in a team setting, helping students succeed while participating in the program and enforcing program rules and regulations while living in the university residence for the 3-week program in July.

Duties and Responsibilities
• Communicate with students and coordinators about daily activities, behaviors, and related issues;
• Reside with the students in university residence providing a safe and inclusive living space, supervise students outside of classroom time and on field trips;
• Provide extra assistance to students with special needs;
• Assist program participants master the English language while having meals at Sodexo;
• Enforce administration policies, program rules and residence life protocols;
• Organize and supervise games and other recreational activities to promote learning concepts and enhance group coherence;
• Organize and coordinate special program events.

Qualifications
• Preferably a Bishop’s University student in B.A. Education degree program;
• Must be bilingual (English/French)
• Demonstrate effective leadership skills;
• Strong ability to work as part of a team;
• Experience with teaching ESL an asset;
• Strong organization, highly motivated, great communication, interpersonal  and time management skills.

Special Notes about the Position
• Monitors must be available for 1 week training prior to the start of EXPLORE Program in July (remuneration of $500.00, housing and meals not provided);
• Monitors must be available full-time from Sunday, July 7 (move-in date) to July 26, 2023, including evenings and weekends. Monitors will have 3 days off during the session, and none of which can be taken during the last week of the program nor consecutively.
• Monitors will reside on campus with the participants during the program;
• Remuneration is $ 1,500 and includes a private room in Hodder residence, all meal expenditures at Sodexo, and field trips.
